Electricity is a funny old thing! Not many people really understand it and even more people are afraid of it, but we all use it and almost forget about it, until something goes wrong.
Among many services that we can offer we will look after the electrical connection between your new, amazing garden room and your house.
We recently completed a cracking job for an existing customer in Plymouth and they were absolutely thrilled with the finished work. And we have to admit we were slightly jealous of their new outdoor man space!

What is the main challenge?
Once you decide to build a garden room or garden office there are many important details that you may not have considered. For instance, now you are about to connect a whole new exciting room to it, when was the last time you had your house’s electrical system checked?
Why is this a challenge?
The UK as a whole has a very high number of well constructed brick buildings with the expectancy that these will last longer than a lifetime. Whilst this is fantastic for preserving the look and feel of British streets there are understandably some negatives.
It is unfortunately common to find that household utilities do not meet the current standards or are not positioned ideally for creating connections to new electrical circuits. The laws and regulations governing domestic electrical installations were heavily altered in 2015 and updated again in 2018. Even in many new houses the electrical consumer unit can be badly placed in the middle or towards the front of the property. This can make it difficult to run cabling through to the outdoors.
However nothing is impossible!
We can (in theory) do anything you want as long as it meets regulations. We can even create paths through your garden, for the utilities you require in your new garden room, by digging trenches and laying pipes or ducting and wiring.
The inside of a client’s property is much less regular than average outdoor spaces and the work we will have to complete to run power legally, safely and neatly through your home is different for every build. But don’t worry we will fully assess the area and your plans and give you a no obligation quotation for the work. We’re even happy to give you some ideas and advice if we think we can help or save you some time and money. Just give us a call.
